Analysis of a music artist/ band magazine advert
Analysis of music artist/ band magazine advert:
Conventions of a music magazine advert:
- The release date
- Album/song title
- Image of album cover
- Artist name
- Information about album
- Where it is available to purchase
- Record label logo
How these conventions convey/ promote the artist at an
audience and attract a target audience:
The release date
|
This is important because the audience need to know when
they are able to start purchasing the album.
|
Album/ song title
|
This is important because to be able to purchase the album
you would need to know the name of the album.
|
Image of album cover
|
This is important in an advert because to help the
audience purchase the album they would need to know what the album looks
like. This will also help promote the band/ artist because the advert will
look more interesting and eye catching with an image.
|
Artist name
|
This is important as the audience need to know what the
name of the artist is. This will help promote the artists and help them
become more known in the music industry.
|
Information about album
|
This is important in an advert so the target audience can
get an idea of what will be in the album and what some of the names of the
songs are in the album.
|
Where it is available to purchase
|
This is important in a magazine advert as the audience
will know whether it is available to purchase on iTunes, Amazon etc.
|
Record label logo
|
This is important because by knowing which record label
they are singed to, we would get an idea of what kind of music they’re
playing in the album. Also the image of the record label may make the advert
look more interesting.
|
Analysis of music magazine advert:
This music magazine advert adheres to the conventions of a
music magazine advert. The name of the artist is large, bold and is seen at the
top of the advert, this attracts the audience and by having her name in bold
large typography it allows the audience to find the album quicker as it stands
out. The name of the album is also found towards the bottom of the page, the
same typography is also used for the title of the album. This album cover uses
pastel colours and the artists name stands out the most on the advert, the
colours used and the main image have a rustic feel to them, the artists clothes
and make-up also adds to this. The advert also shows tells the audience the
release date of the album and where it can be purchased such as Amazon. There
is also the record labels logo in the bottom right corner. Extra information
has also been added onto this advert such as the website of the artist located
at the bottom of the page and some of the song titles that appear in this
album. By having the names of some of the songs featured in this album it
attracts the audience and makes them want to buy the album when it is released
to listen to new songs by the artist.
This music magazine advert adheres to the conventions and the way its
set out such as the main image used stands out and is eye-catching, the name of
the artist and the name of the album also stands out and attracts the audience
to buy the album.
Differences between the music advert and a film poster:
In comparison to the music magazines advert, this film
poster has both similarities and differences. In this poster the title of the
film is in large, bold typography this makes it stand out and grab the
audience’s attention, this is similar to the magazine advert as the artists
name is also uses large, bold typography to grab the attention of the audience.
There is also a main image which stands out and makes people want to watch the
film, this is also similar to the magazine advert because she is also in the
centre which makes her stand out and grab the audience’s attention. The release
date is seen at the bottom of the poster this is the same as the magazine advert,
by having the release date on the poster/ advert it allows the audience to know
when the album and film are out which further interests the audience. Extra information
has been added to the bottom of the film poster, this makes it look genuine and
professional like. The film poster also tells the audience who is producing/
distributing the film, the film has been produced by Warner Brothers, this is similar
to the magazine advert as there is a logo of the artists record label at the
bottom of the page.
