Conventions of a website

Example: Lady Gaga's website

A good example of a website that adheres to the conventions is Lady Gaga's website. The overall look of the website stands out, there is a main image of the artist which has been staged and taking professionally this adheres to the conventions of a website. The website also has a main header showing the name of the artist.

Typical conventions of a website:

Promote
Appeal
Attractive

Easy to navigate
Represent Genre
Represent the artist

A giant header/ the bands name

Design reflecting the genre

To have information such as tour dates etc.

Pitch

Below is our presentation which was created on prezi and features our ideas for our music video as well as features our chosen song.

Below is the video of our presentation where we pitched our idea for our music video. We also made sure that our chosen song was playing throughout the presentation so that the class could listen to the song we had chosen.

Below are our scripts that we used when doing our presentation.

I think that our pitch went well as we explained our ideas in detail making sure that it was clear what we are going to be doing. I also think that we had a good presentation and it was different as we used prezi instead of PowerPoint. Overall I think that our presentation went really well however to improve we shouldn't use scripts, we should have learnt what we were going to say as we were looking to much at our scripts instead of who we were pitching our idea to.

Budget list

Below is our budget list for what we will have to purchase in order to film our music video for example props and transport tickets. Bus tickets are essential as this is how we are going to get to the main location in our video which is Peterborough centre. The train tickets are also important as this is also an important location for our music video. The transport tickets are the only things that we will need to pay for as our actor, Kuziva will be providing his costumes for the music video. Also the materials that we will need to make our fake sun we will get from school and therefore we won't need to pay for this.

Below is our budget list which is shown on padlet.

Mise-en-scene

Costumes:

One of the main outfits in the production is the casual outfit which the main singer will be wearing.  He will be wearing various different casual outfits throughout the production in various different environments such as a field and a town centre. This will show the contrast between smart and casual wear that is described in the lyrics. The clothes will be provided by the actor and will link to the lyrical content. This costume represents the contrast of smart clothing and casual clothing throughout the production. We have decided that we want the main singer within the promo to mainly be dressed in casual wear as it when the costume change happens it will make him stand out. Also by using this costume it creates a sense of normality and being realistic.

Another main outfit is a suit which will be worn by the lead singer. He will be wearing a suit at certain stages of the music video, this will be a representation of some of the lyrical content in the music video. This will represent the ‘superstar’ that is in the lyrics. This will also show a contrast of smart and casual clothing.  During the part where the lyrics "superstar" are being sung the lead singer will be wearing this costume, it won't be exactly the same as the suit in the picture however it will be close. The lead singer will also be wearing a pair of sunglasses to make him seem more like a superstar. We have chosen this costume as it makes these lyrics stand out and also this costume paired with sunglasses is typically associated with a superstar/ famous person.

The boots are essential because the main lyrics within our chosen song are "Put on ya boots and keep on walking" therefore we have chosen to use them in our music video as this image will link to our lyrics and therefore create meaning.  The boots will first feature at the beginning of the music video and will feature throughout the music video.  The boots will be essential at the end of our promo as throughout the promo the lead singer will be bare foot, this makes our promo different and stand out as well as when he is wearing the boots at the end of the video it will show the importance of them while showing the link to the lyrics. We have decided to do this as it will create the link to the lyrics and make the audience want to keep watching to see why he is bare foot.

Lighting:

We will check the weather on the day before we film our music video as our locations are all outside and therefore we can't film while it's raining. When filming in two of our locations, the bedroom and the studio we need to make sure that we have as much light as possible to make sure that you can see what's going on in the footage clearly. With our other locations we are filming outside so we will be using natural light so we need to make sure that it is a fairly bright day in order to film these parts of our music video.

Production schedule

Below is our production schedule for the two days we are going to be filming. By having a production schedule it will help us to keep organised as well as help us to keep track of what we are filming and how long it will take to film in each location. In the production schedule I have listed the date we will be filming in each location, the times we will be filming in these locations, the actor(s) who are going to be involved in a particular shot. For example Kuziva will be seen throughout the music video. I have also said which location we will be filming in at each time as well as given a little description of what we will be doing at that particular time.

Location scouting

One of the locations that will appear in our music video is Bourne town. The town will appear several times throughout  the music video. There will be random shots of the town at the beginning. This will give the audience a feel of the area they are in. It will also help starting here because as the video progresses it will show the musician will go from a village/town to a more urban like environment. The random shots at the beginning of the music video will last for approximately 25 seconds. The use of a town will also help the sort of emotion we want the audience to feel while listening to the song. The use of a village setting creates a lonely or isolated feel this is because as the main musician travels he will go from a populated place to being surrounded by fields. This will show his loneliness, at this point the lyric 'put on ya boots and keep on walking'  will be sung and he will start walking.

The second town location is going to be Peterborough town centre. There is going to be random shots of the town centre which will show the contrast of the countryside town and a city. This will last for about 25 seconds.  After the musician travels from the loneliness of the countryside he will then travel to a more urban area. Here he will still be walking and travelling to a place that's unknown to the audience. Using Peterborough will be good because it will show a good contrast between urban and rural. This will also help change the mood of the music video  gradually because the mood of the music video will change and become happier. This will happen because humorous things will begin to happen while the musician is walking through the town. This will further help us represent the disjuncture in the music promo. We will be using several different locations in Peterborough. They will be used to help create a disjuncture music promo.

Another location is the Peterborough train station. The station will be pivotal in showing  the transition between scenes. This location will be key because it will show time passing, the train station will be important because it distinguishes the location change. It is also important because the video is based on travelling in a straight line and the use of this train station will be a large part of this. Because the video is going to be disjuncture the train station will also help us achieve the disjuncture element of the music promo. We will also be travelling to a different location so the use of the train station will be vital.

This is the second train station we will be using. This will be the place we travel to from Peterborough train station. The use of this train station will also show the distance we have travelled which is a big part of the music video. The train station will also be key in showing a change in the mood of the music video. The audience will be able to see the further we travel the better the mood of the music video will be.

One of the key places that we will need is the field that the musician walks in. This is the link between the rural and urban areas. The field represents the sad, lonely part of the promo which is at the beginning. The field is essential in showing the audience the emotion of the promo at the beginning which will change later on in the promo. There will be random shots at the beginning of the video which will show the lonely area the musician is in.

Cutting to the beat

Below is our cutting to the beat which shows where the shot will change throughout the song. The key shows where the shot is going to change on the first page, then on the next page a key is shown which tells you the lcoations of each part of the lyrics. For example all the shots that are located in town where highlighted yellow, all the shots taking place in the field where highlighted green, all the shots taking place in the studio were highlighted blue, all the shots taking place in the bedroom were highlighted purple/pink and all the shot taking place at the train station were highlighted red. This is helpful as it helps us to break down the song and also gives us a rough estimate of how many shots we are doing overall in each location and for the entire music video. To make sure that we are cutting in the right place we listened to the music several times, the only problem we had doing this was that it was really hard to find where there should be a cut therefore we decided to cut to the vocals. This meant that we would cut where the vocalist stops singing and carrys on again, doing this we found it easier and it also meant that we could use more shots as if we didn't do this there would be a cut after every sentence within the lyrics. We have also shown how many beats there are in both the instrumental parts of the song for example at the start of the song there are nine beats within the instrumental part, therefore we are going to have nine different shots at the beginning as an introduction to our music video. In this introduction we will have location shots to show which locations will be used throughout our music video.
